Irv Weiser Diversity Award

Good morning, I just wanted to share with you that Irv Weiser, RBC Wealth Management's former CEO just called me to let me know I now have to honor of winning RBC's 2010 annual diversity award (named after him).

According to the website:

Irv Weiser Diversity Award
RBC Wealth Management has established the Irv Weiser Diversity Award to recognize and reward individuals who exhibit the company’s commitment to diversity.

Award Criteria
A great nominee will be someone who:

· Sees differences in people as valuable and potential assets; encourages open dialogue on diversity and shares personal experiences and learning; writes and speaks in language that is respectful and sensitive.

· Understands and communicates the business imperatives for leveraging diversity; seeks market opportunities in diversity; seeks opportunities to work across levels, functions and businesses; acknowledges others for supporting diversity.

· Demonstrates cultural sensitivity by encouraging a range of ideas, perspectives, and styles – knows there is more than one right way to do things; communicates effectively with people from different cultures; helps diverse teams work together effectively.

· Works for change; takes risks and challenges the norm or status quo; deals with conflict and inappropriate behavior in a timely and appropriate manner.

Examples include someone taking a leadership role, mentoring a person with a disability, a woman or a visible minority for the purposes of helping them reach their full potential in the organization; someone focusing on new and diverse markets and gaining respect and trust in diverse communities; someone who has volunteered and is actively participating in our Diversity Advisory Boards, charitable fund raising efforts, diversity committees and other events and projects that encourage a broad range of ideas.

Award
The recipient of the Irv Weiser Diversity Award will receive a cash award along with a crystal memento. The winner will be honored at RBC Wealth Management’s annual Award of Excellence awards ceremony.

Happy Holidays to you and your family.
Rod
